How do I sign up to Workplace?
Do you have to create a personal Facebook account when you use Workplace?
You don't need a personal Facebook account to sign up for Workplace and there are separate websites and apps for both.
How much does this cost?
Can my employer see my personal Facebook account?
No, your employer will not be able to access your personal Facebook account.
Who owns the information that employees create?
Your company owns the information and data that your employees create in your Workplace. Facebook acts as the data processor.
What happens when an employee leaves the company?
After an employee leaves, the admin will still have access to their Workplace profile.

What is Workplace Core?
Workplace Core is a communication tool that connects everyone in your company, even if they're working remotely, using features such as Groups, live video and Knowledge Library. This plan also includes integrations with popular platforms such as Office 365 and Google Workspace. Workplace Core costs USD 4.00 per person, per month.
What does per user, per month mean?
On Workplace Core, you pay for the number of people who have been invited to activate their Workplace profile. You can create an unlimited number of profiles in your Workplace. But only when a person is invited to activate their profile do they become billable.
What are Workplace add-ons?
You can start with our Core plan, then customise your Workplace experience with optional add-ons. We have two add-ons: Enhanced admin & support and Enterprise Live.
What is the Enterprise Live add-on?
Bring enhanced peer-to-peer technology to live videos. You'll be able to stream to large audiences while reducing the impact on your network.
What is the enhanced admin & support add-on?
Additional features for organisations with more sophisticated admin and support needs, such as priority customer support and more sign-on options.
What is Frontline?
The Frontline feature makes it easier to manage how your frontline staff access Workplace. It lets admins assign people in your organisation as frontline workers. Admins can then add a custom message and terms to appear whenever these frontline workers use Workplace, such as "You won't be paid overtime for using Workplace outside office hours". Admins can also disable group creation for frontline workers. We offer specialised plans for Frontline. Get in touch with us to discuss any questions that you have about our features and pricing.
The Frontline feature is available with the Workplace Core plan. In Core, you can decide whether to allow frontline workers access on both mobile and web, or limit it to mobile only.
Can I sign up for the Frontline feature only?
No. The Frontline feature can only be used as part of Workplace Core; Frontline is not an add-on.
Where can I use the plans?
Workplace Core can be used on the web, on iOS and Android mobile apps and via a mobile web browser.

Can I cancel my Workplace plan?
Workplace has a subscription-based model and you can cancel your account at any time by contacting Workplace support. You'll need to notify us of the cancellation 30 days in advance.
What are my payment options?
You can pay via credit card or via wire transfer. You can also use PayPal if you are in US or Canada.
Can I pay in a local currency?
You can pay in any one of the following local currencies: US dollar, Australian dollar, Brazilian real, Mexican peso, euro or Japanese yen. Minimum thresholds apply; please contact our sales team for more details.

There are no ads on Workplace.
My organisation is subject to EU data processing requirements. Can I use Workplace?
Workplace acts as your organisation's data processor. Your organisation remains in control of your data. The Workplace Online Terms contain the relevant data processing terms to help customers comply with the GDPR, in particular, the terms in the Data Processing Addendum.
Are Workplace and Facebook user accounts separate?
Workplace and Facebook accounts are separate, with separate profiles and login credentials for each account. Content is never shared between your Workplace and personal Facebook account.
Who owns and controls the information created by my organisation's employees?
In Workplace, your organisation owns and administers the account data – you can modify, delete or export it at any time. Our industry standard APIs allow for real-time activity monitoring and content exports. If you would like to use third-party tools for eDiscovery and compliance, we provide integrations with several industry-leading providers.
Do you have to create a personal Facebook account when you use Workplace?
No, Workplace is a different product from Facebook. You don't need a personal Facebook account to sign up for Workplace and there are separate websites and apps for both.
Where are your data centres located?
We currently have data centres in the US and Europe.
How does Workplace keep my information secure?
Workplace is hosted on Facebook's infrastructure, protected by a combination of advanced security systems, world-renowned security teams, firm security policies and processes focused on customer privacy and safety. Physical access to our data centres is restricted to authorised individuals, and we own or directly lease all of our facilities, so we have end-to-end control over the grounds, buildings, servers, operations and maintenance for each centre.
Admins can leverage our Security Centre to monitor unusual security events and view a company security health score. They can also use our APIs or partner with a service provider for policy enforcement and to receive security alerts.
What security certifications does Workplace hold?
This certification demonstrates security best practice and provides an independent validation of the design and operational effectiveness of our security management programme and information security management system.
This certification covers the control objectives, controls and guidelines for implementing measures to protect personally identifiable information (PII) in accordance with the privacy principles in ISO/IEC 29100 for the Workplace from Facebook service and all related supporting technology.
- SOC 2 – is an extensive independent audit of how we host and operate Workplace by Facebook, which is performed annually by an independent third-party auditor and covers the 12-month period from the previous calendar year. The assessment covers everything from how we secure and protect the application and our data centres, to how we verify the identity and background of our employees. This is available upon request, subject to an NDA.

What support does Workplace provide?
Workplace Advanced customers have access to one-to-one email support seven days a week/24 hours a day. The support team has a 24-hour initial response SLA.
Workplace Enterprise customers have access to one-to-one email support seven days a week/24 hours a day. The support team has 4-hour initial support response time SLA and offers priority support resolution.
