The new Facebook.com will bring simpler design and faster performance to billions of people. And with our new Workplace redesign, we're bringing the same innovation to global enterprise. Here's what's changed – and why it means huge performance improvements for everyone.
We launched Workplace to give the world a place to work together. And over the last two years, we've connected thousands of work communities and millions of people with this aim in mind.
We've also learnt a lot about how people use Workplace – things they love and the things that they'd like to add to make work even faster, smarter and more connected.

Workplace is different from other work tools
On Facebook, we connect more than 2 billion people every month. And because Workplace inherits the same ease of use and clean design, people can quickly deploy Workplace across entire organisations with minimal training and disruption.
Making work easier
In addition to building community at work, people want to use Workplace to collaborate and have the information that they need at their fingertips. They want tools such as Workplace groups and a notifications inbox that enable collaboration, reduce the reliance on email and allow them to chat and share files quickly.
We've also heard that we should focus more on helping people get work done while still providing a delightful, intuitive user experience.
By harnessing the innovation and performance improvements from the new Facebook design, the new Workplace experience allows us to do just that.
The new web experience is faster and includes a host of new features to help you get work done. It makes it easier for people to connect and collaborate. It also ensures that the core experience of using Workplace remains familiar and intuitive.
And we've leveraged the significant innovation and performance improvements from the Facebook infrastructure, as the Facebook experience itself evolves, to make Workplace better and faster. Companies such as Delta Air Lines and Danone were part of the beta test, and their feedback helped shape our new design.
1) Quickly get to the information that you need
The new navigation makes it easy to switch between Workplace groups, notifications and Workplace Chat. The new notifications view helps you stay on top of your notifications by displaying them as an inbox, and enables you to filter them based on your preferences. You also have more granular controls over your notifications.
It's now much faster to check and act on your notifications.
2) Get work done faster with fewer distractions
Groups are where people get work done. So now they are much more prominent, and it's easy to keep track of the groups that you've joined, to reorder your shortcuts and to navigate to the groups that are most important to you. You can also collapse both the navigation and the right-hand column to focus on the content you care about.
The new design leverages the latest in Facebook research and infrastructure to speed up the interface significantly. And because it's faster, you'll spend less time waiting and more time doing.
3) Easily find and connect with people
The home page leverages the machine learning elements of the "work graph" to focus on the people and groups closest to you. You can find what you need in the Home tab and if you're working on a teams and project group, you can switch between the "Posts" and the "Chat" tabs easily to make sure that everyone's on the same page. You can also use the redesigned Files tab to organise your work on Workplace.
And that means a reduction in the number of clicks that you'll need to find someone, to start a chat or to connect your groups and chats.
