Flow 2018 session spotlight: The people behind the change

by Catherine Flynn

As part of our build-up to Flow 2018, we're giving you a taste of the hot topics and in-depth discussions happening on the day.

Next up, is panel session The People Behind the Change, in which we'll discover how to make workplace transformation a reality inside large organisations.

No organisation in the world wants to stand still. Change is the cornerstone of progress. That's why it's on every business leader's agenda. But what is it? What are we really talking about when we talk about "change"?

65% of MDs rated "inclusive growth" as a top-three strategic concern

For starters, we're talking about people. Diversity is spurring fundamental changes: two-thirds of the 10,000 leaders surveyed as part of Deloitte's 2018 Global Human Capital Trends report cited diversity and inclusion as "important" or "very important" to their business.

And 65% of MDs rated "inclusive growth" as a top-three strategic concern.

But we're also talking about technology – how the digital workplace is changing alongside the physical.

That's a huge concern for organisations with younger workforces, as 53% of generation Yers say they'd be more likely to accept a job if their employer used the same technologies they do.

And we're talking about transparency. 83% of people say they prefer to shop with a brand they trust, while 69% think brands need to do a better job of earning it.

C-level leaders know a notable shift in business perception is an inside-out job

Now more than ever before, organisations are being held responsible for their impact on society, and C-level leaders know that a notable shift in business perception is an inside-out job.

In The People Behind the Change, we've assembled a team of experts who have extensive experience in delivering tangible change inside large organisations.

We'll discover operational strategies to make change a reality, whether it's transforming diversity, technology or business culture.

At Flow, our panellists will be discussing practical strategies versus paying lip service

At Flow, our panellists will be discussing practical strategies versus paying lip service. Pradheepa says, "Company leadership should commit to making the right changes and be very genuine about it."

The question we'll be answering is, "What kind of strategies do I need to get it right?"
